Vacay!!! At Elements of Byron Bay...

Posted on 15 June 2017

TENILLE ELEMENTS BYRON BAY

Just past Belongil Beach, a ten minute drive north of the Byron Bay township, there sits a brand new $100 million dollar resort, the epitome of luxe. Elements of Byron - elementsofbyron.com.au - is lovingly referred to as a feminine structure. Her smooth curves nestle amongst native trees, water-lily covered ponds and kilometres of unspoiled beachfront. She's unimposing, yet leaves a lasting impression.

It's barefoot luxury at its best, the beautiful experience of peaceful wilderness enhanced by 7am sun salutations on the deck overlooking lapping waves, taking a meander along untouched beaches, a trip to the venue's indulgent Odyssey Day Spa and afternoons well spent on purpose-built, super comfy day beds. Of course, you can work out in the flash, state-of-the art gym but, like other hotel guests, we skipped it - with all the other activities on our doorstep, we figured why exercise indoors?!

The venue's villas have an air of coastal homeliness about them, while simultaneously appearing refined. Featuring the handy-work of local artisans, the bed-head turns tie-die into a luxe-look while the kitchen, lounge and bathroom make beautiful use of soft pine tones, marble, slate and grey throws.

Open and airy, the villas are minimalism juxtaposed with functionality and technology. I would highly recommend fixing yourself a local gin and tonic, lighting a candle, and reading up on the attractions of Byron Bay as you take a soak in the deep, spacious tub (there's room for two!).

With such active days spent engaged in yoga practice, catching waves and exploring the stunning surrounds, you can afford to be good to yourself in other ways. Treat your taste buds to some of the foodie delights on offer. The $1 oyster shucking on Friday evenings is a must, as is a scrumptious meal in the restaurant, a snack from the Graze menu (delivered to your swinging lounge along with a cocktail, of course!), and a fresh, healthy and varied buffet breakfast.

During our stay, thanks to my background as a hotelier, my sister Logan and I were invited to attend an event hosted by Accor in an impressive tee pee, especially set-up in the grounds at Elements. We enjoyed a seafood buffet dinner before sipping champagne as the sun set beyond the beach-front deck.

If you're travelling during June, the Byron Bay Food and Wine Festival is hosted in the grounds of Elements of Byron, and features wine tastings offered by local suppliers (of which we did three, back-to- back because, why not?!), yummy local food produce, plus a presence from some of Byron Bay's finest restaurants including The Balcony, The Beach Restaurant, and Elements itself ... all showcasing their exquisite signature dishes. And, having sampled it during the festival, Bryon Bay Cocao - byronbaycacao.com - has quickly become my favourite chocolatier and, trust me, I'm a connoisseur! I ended up taking home six boxes for the office (the surfing and yoga will balance it out, right?).

Whether Byron Bay is an old favourite or undiscovered territory for you, I would definitely encourage a trip. I'd love to hear your experiences at Elements, or recommendations for Byron Bay (I'm already planning my next visit!), leave any comments below!

Travel often. Light your passion.
